Overview & Real-World Use
Woodsman is exactly what it says on the tin: a coming soon theme for businesses that need a clean, professional landing page before their main site goes live. I've set up a handful of these over the years for clients who want to collect emails and build anticipation without the usual clutter. This one strips away everything unnecessary and focuses on what actually matters—countdown timers, progress trackers, and a way to capture leads while you finish the real build.
It's aimed squarely at small agencies, consultants, and startups. If you're launching a SaaS product, a new service offering, or just need a placeholder that doesn't look like a placeholder, Woodsman gets the job done without fuss.
Design & Page Builder Workflow
Built on Elementor, which is about as standard as it gets for this type of project. The demo imports cleanly, and because it's a single-page coming soon template, there's very little room for confusion. You're working with a straightforward layout—hero section, countdown, progress bar, email capture, and footer. Nothing to get lost in.
Elementor Pro isn't strictly required to use the theme, but if you have it, you'll unlock additional styling options and dynamic content features. ACF Pro is bundled, which gives you flexibility to add custom fields where needed without touching code. Bootstrap 5 handles the underlying grid, so responsive behavior is predictable across devices. Font Awesome 6 Pro icons are included, and they look crisp on retina displays without any extra setup.
The pre-built demo is minimal by design. That's not a weakness—it means you're not fighting against a bunch of dummy content to make it yours. Import, swap the text, change the colors in the customizer, and you're live in under fifteen minutes.
Practical Functionality
The countdown timer is the headline feature here, and it works the way you'd expect it to. Set a launch date, and it counts down in days, hours, minutes, and seconds. No configuration needed. It stays persistent across page reloads, which matters more than people usually admit.
The progress bar is another useful touch. You can set a percentage value—say, 75% complete—and it visually communicates to visitors that something is actively being built. This is especially handy for agencies managing multiple client launches where transparency matters.
Email capture is built in with a simple form field. It works with any standard SMTP setup or third-party email marketing service. If you're using Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or something similar, the integration is straightforward through the theme's settings panel.
Responsive behavior is solid. I tested it on iPhone, iPad, and a few Android devices, and the layout holds together without awkward scaling or overlapping elements. The single-page structure actually works in its favor here—there's less to break on smaller screens.
Multi-language support is there via WPML compatibility, which matters if you're targeting international audiences. Not everyone needs it, but it's good to know it's available when the time comes.
