Overview
I recently built a site for a small animal rescue in the North of England, and Whiskers came up again. It's a pet-focused WordPress theme built for veterinary clinics, pet stores, shelters, and fundraising campaigns. The design leans warm and approachable—soft rounded corners, generous whitespace, imagery that lets animal photos take centre stage—which is exactly the tone you want when you're asking people to donate or adopt.
The package also bundles a custom CMSMasters Donation plugin, so if your project revolves around animal welfare activism or fundraising events, you don't need to hunt for a third-party solution. It works out of the box.
Design & Builder Workflow
Whiskers ships with Elementor support, which means you can visually edit every section rather than wrestling with PHP or shortcodes. The pre-built demo layouts cover the main use cases: a clinic landing page, a pet shop with product grids, an adoption gallery, and a donation-focused page. Importing a demo takes a few minutes using the included WordPress importer, and once it's running, customising colours, typography, and content feels straightforward.
Header and footer controls live inside the Theme Customizer, so you can adjust the main navigation, swap logo placements, and toggle call-to-action buttons without touching code. If you prefer Gutenberg, most of the demo sections are also available as block patterns—handy when you're working in a headless or lightweight environment.
Mobile layout holds up reasonably well across the demos. I tested the clinic and shop pages on iPhone and Pixel devices; images scale cleanly and the CTA buttons stay thumb-friendly. There's a minor lag on some of the heavier carousel sections, but nothing that breaks the experience.
Practical Functionality
WooCommerce integration. Pet stores on Whiskers get product grid layouts, variable product support, and a clean checkout flow. The theme styles the cart and product pages without overriding WooCommerce core, so updates to the plugin don't typically break the front end. I added a few cat food products to a demo install and the layout held its shape through a quick plugin update.
Donation plugin. The bundled CMSMasters Donation extension lets you create tiered donation forms, set targets, and display progress bars. It pairs naturally with the adoption and fundraiser demos. For smaller shelters that don't need full fundraising infrastructure, this beats piecing together three separate plugins.
Multi-language ready. The theme loads text domain paths correctly and translates cleanly through WPML and Polylang. I didn't stress-test RTL support beyond a quick Arabic demo import, but the base scaffolding looks in order.
Responsive performance. Whiskers uses standard WordPress enqueue practices, and the demo sites loaded within reasonable timeframes on a modest shared host. The image lazy-load setting is toggled from the customizer, which saves bandwidth on photo-heavy adoption galleries.

Final Takeaway
Whiskers is a solid, purpose-built theme for anyone running a pet store, veterinary clinic, or animal welfare site. The Elementor workflow is unhurried, the bundled donation plugin saves time, and the visual language fits the niche without feeling generic. It isn't the most technically ambitious theme on the market, but for small businesses and nonprofits that need something working fast, it does exactly what it promises. I'd pick this up if you're launching a clinic website or a rescue fundraiser and don't want to spend weeks on custom development.
